genre of a movie can be judged by studying the mise-en-scene the conventions and the style of the media content.

Key concepts of Media

this presentation discussed the media language being used
1)written: used in print(copy),specific to genre, also used in silent films.
2)verbal: used in film/radio/television
3)non verbal: defined in terms of body language or gestures
4)visual: —Technical areas such as camera work, mise-en-scene and analytical readings.
5)semiotics: it is the study of signs denotation (literal meaning) connotation (implied meaning)
6)aural: includes a mixture of sounds to generate meaning (digetic & non digetic)

It teaches the basic direction of how a movie should be shot. Shots, angles and movements matters a lot as through this people interpret what is shown to them. Establishing shot establishes a location ,Point of view shot makes the viewer to consider the way character’s think, High angle shot portrays inferiority and low angle shot portrays superiority.
There are four types camera movements those are:
Camera Composition includes framing, rule of thirds, depth of field and focus puller .Some space should be left above the top of the head and frame but it should be just a small amount as too much headroom may look awkward, same rule is applied with the nose tto much nose room also looks awkward, While framing we should take care of three things which are put the eye-level about two thirds of the way up the screen i.e  the rule of thirds, Depths of field, is the distance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene that appear in an image.
while editing we look gor order of shots, transition, pace aand many such things.  Before editing movie has many clips in disorderly manner which need to be put together to create connection. Continuity can be added in many ways like through establishing shot to establish a location,180 degree rule, shot/reverse shot and match on action that is a continuation of the same movement in different shots, eye line match in which character sees something and the next shot shows what he sees. There are some editing terms like Jump cut which breaks the continuity of time by leaping forward from one portion of an action to another.
In principles of continuity three important factors were covered they are:
1.Match On Action
2.Shot Reverse Shot
3.180 degree Rule
match on action, matches the action of two separate shots, shot reverse shot is a continuity editing technique used in conversations mostly, 180 degree rule it is a filming guideline that the participants in a scene should have same left-right relationship to each other.
